Dr. Zanah Francis serves as Lead Coordinator and Researcher of the AMR Strategic Coalition (ASC). She brings expertise in microbiology, infectious disease, science policy and scientific research, to advance the coalition’s mission of coordinated action against antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Her prior experience includes serving as a Health Policy & Research Fellow at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in the Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy (OIDP). In this role, she worked with the Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (PACCARB), a federal advisory council that provides recommendations to the HHS Secretary on all matters related to AMR.
Zanah earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology & Immunology from the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry, where her research focused on cell envelope biosynthesis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis with the goal of identifying new targets that can be translated into the development of novel anti-tuberculosis drugs.
