Julie S. Liao, Ph.D., serves as Head of Research and Policy of the AMR Strategic Coalition (ASC), leveraging her expertise in science policy, infectious diseases, and cross-sector collaboration to advance dialogue and action on global health challenges such as antimicrobial resistance.

Prior to joining ASC, Julie was most recently Director of the Forum on Microbial Threats at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, where she convened interdisciplinary and multisectoral dialogues to advance understanding and spark actions to address critical issues related to infectious diseases, including AMR. Her work has informed national research agendas, federal strategy, and philanthropic investment in emerging areas of infectious disease research and policy.

Previously, Julie worked in the biotechnology industry, where she led vaccine development and antimicrobial resistance research projects. She earned her Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology from Binghamton University and completed postdoctoral training at Boston Children’s Hospital.
